Botanical Gardens, Cincinnati and Niagara Falls Cananda

I had a wonderful time visiting my friend in Cincinnati this past Easter weekend. We saw so many sights including the botanical gardens. It was planted for Easter with Easter lilies, daffodils, tulips, hyacinth and muscari. The first picture is of a plant called Cleopatra's Earings which I thought had such beautiful color.
And they had some amazing very old bonsai trees. Love the roots in this one!
And our trip then took us to Niagara Falls in Canada and right by the falls is a small but very well kept and gorgeous botanical garden..
They had planted beautiful varieties of daffodils I had never seen before. This one is my favorite.

They had so many different types of orchids there as well. This Paphiopedilum is to die for. Wish I could get these for the studio.

Wildflower Simplicity

I was going through last year's wedding pics, excited for a new year of flower designing and arranging, when I came across the pics from Katie and Chris's August wedding. Katie's style of wildflowers, twine, mason jars, and burlap created a warm and comfortable look, complimented by a surround of soft candlelight as the early evening crept into the night.

Lauren and Mark September 30, 2011

Loved this bridal bouquet! It has so much texture and interest to it. Lauren had a very specific look in mind that was organic with a touch of a modern feel. Using a lot of orchids and calla lilies in her designs as well as flowers like lysimachia, stock, stars of Bethlehem, parrot tulips, kale leaves, parrot tulips and others.

Ceremony was held at the South Ferry Church in Narragansett and the reception at the Towers. Very sad to say we were not able to get any images from the reception :( . Her centerpieces were a collection of different sized cylinder vases with green cymbidium orchids submerged in water and on the table underneath them was tropical foliage. Very fun. We love This church! So simple yet so beautiful and a great location!

Lauren and Mike 9-18-11

The ceremony was held at St Peter and Paul Cathedral and reception at Cav in Providence. Always fabulous color pallet of white and green, timeless and works for every season. I truly enjoyed designing her bridal bouquet. It had cymbidium and dendrobium orchids, astilbe, trachelium, seeded eucalyptus, curly willow, green hydrangea, stock to name a few ;)

Cav is such a busy eclectic restaurant that just a simple white dendrobium orchid in a cylinder vase with river rock was enough to jazz up the table.

Jennie and Ryan 8-6-11

I had the pleasure of designing one of my past employees and good friend Jennie's wedding this past August. It was at a private residence in North Kingstown, in the back yard under a tent. Ceremony, cocktails and reception all in one location (my favorite), made for a stress free, comfortable and all around fabulous night. Jennie designed the entire affair herself, from the seed packets wrapped in raffia for favors to the mason jar with candles hung from shepards hooks lining the entrance.
Jennie's bouquet is made up of garden roses, ranunculus, hydrangea, astilbe, freesia, cymbidium orchids and lisianthus.

I just love this picture! All photos by Matt francis

Mason jar arrangements hung off shepards hooks lined the aisle.

A piece of an old wooden fence held the escort cards. Great idea!
The flowers were designed with a organic garden feel. Fever few, mint, broom corn, dusty miller, garden roses, phlox, hydrangea. Mason jar for the vase of course ;)
As the owner of Love of Plants, a plant care/design and installation company, Jennie loves all things green and we wanted to design the flowers to reflect her work and personality.
An amazing night for an amazing couple! Love you guys!
