The ceremony was held at St Peter and Paul Cathedral and reception at Cav in Providence. Always fabulous color pallet of white and green, timeless and works for every season. I truly enjoyed designing her bridal bouquet. It had cymbidium and dendrobium orchids, astilbe, trachelium, seeded eucalyptus, curly willow, green hydrangea, stock to name a few ;)

Cav is such a busy eclectic restaurant that just a simple white dendrobium orchid in a cylinder vase with river rock was enough to jazz up the table.

Jennie and Ryan 8-6-11

I had the pleasure of designing one of my past employees and good friend Jennie's wedding this past August. It was at a private residence in North Kingstown, in the back yard under a tent. Ceremony, cocktails and reception all in one location (my favorite), made for a stress free, comfortable and all around fabulous night. Jennie designed the entire affair herself, from the seed packets wrapped in raffia for favors to the mason jar with candles hung from shepards hooks lining the entrance.
Jennie's bouquet is made up of garden roses, ranunculus, hydrangea, astilbe, freesia, cymbidium orchids and lisianthus.

The flowers were designed with a organic garden feel. Fever few, mint, broom corn, dusty miller, garden roses, phlox, hydrangea. Mason jar for the vase of course ;)

As the owner of Love of Plants, a plant care/design and installation company, Jennie loves all things green and we wanted to design the flowers to reflect her work and personality.
An amazing night for an amazing couple! Love you guys!

Peonies

After what seems like an eternity of time that peonies have been out of season, we have some GORGEOUS stems in the store right now. They're just the right kind of warmth the soul needs when the weather starts getting colder and the days are so short.

Rachel and Stefan - Providence Art Club

The wedding of Rachel and Stefan, in July, was held at the very chic Providence Art Club. The Tuscan style seating of this venue created an ultra classy look, featuring a mix of arrangements in glass and silver mint julep cups. Jennifer and Dave - Belle Mer Bliss

Unconventional Wedding Venues

Just had to share this great picture (by Damien Gaudet) from one of our weddings this past September. The reception was held at The Boston Museum of Science in their outdoor tent. The bridal party had free reign of the museum for photos. This one's the best by far!

So ladies, think outside the box for your reception site. There's a lot more out there besides country clubs and mansions ;)

Bouquet Loveliness

Studio 539 Flowers is so excited to have a bouquet on the cover of Newport Wedding Magazine for 2012!! We were delighted to learn that one of our brides, Natalie, was being featured.

The mainly yellow bouquet was jazzed up with yellow roses, craspedia, white calla lillies, white hydrangea, lisianthus, and a tiny pop of green in hypericum berry. His boutonniere featured a starfish with green accent.

Make sure to stop in the store (starting in November) and check out the whole magazine feature, or purchase your own copy on a newsstand. The pictures in the magazine are by the amazing Michelle Carpenter Photography!

While we have been extremely busy with weddings, store arrangements, and deliveries, we wanted to give you a peak at some of the bouquets that have been keeping our flower designing hands occupied.

The next pic is a broach bouquet made by Christina. It was pretty labor intensive, but sooo worth it. The bouquet (photographed by Studio Nouveau out of Boston) was constructed from broaches collected by the bride.

The next three bouquets are a sampling of texture used in a variety of ways.

This yellow bouquet was soft, yet funky. The solidago added a linear garden feel, while the craspedia and yellow button mums gave a round, modern look. The hypericum berry and lady's mantle added a complimenting green touch, and a light yellow stock brought it all together.

Check out this very textural, elegant white bouquet that combines so many fabulous flowers. Without leaving any out, this bouquet is made of: lysimachia, star of Bethlehem, ornithogalum, stock, calla lilly, lisianthus, freesia, tulip, kale, and a touch of hypericum berry. I'm not sure about you, but I am definitely in love with this one!

The softness and femininity of the bouquet above is breathtaking! With greens, creams, and a soft pink/peach, this bouquet would warm the heart of anyone. It's interesting how so many of the same flowers used in different ways can create such varying looks.

And since pairing a bouquet with the perfect boutonniere is so important.. we wanted to give you a peak at a fabulous shot from Rebecca Hansen Weddings. How awesome is the color of those gerbera daisies?!

Botanical Garden Wedding - Nikki and Frank

This super fun couple chose the Botanical Gardens at Roger Williams Park in RI for their weddings celebration. The crisp white with chartreuse and pops of fuchsia, combined with a gentle touch of feather, made this unique event incredibly memorable. (The fab photos are courtesy of Gabrielle Marks Photography.)

The wedding party donned a textured floral look that included green hydrangea, green spider mums, cymbidium orchids, and ranunculous. The contrast with the metallic sheen of the slate dresses looked so vibrant!

Nikki's bouquet was the perfect mix of softness (thank you hydrangea, celosia, viburnum, and white feathers!) and texture (oh how we love cymbidium orchids, star of Bethlehem, and hypericum berries!).. creating a round bouquet with some pizzazz. :)

I just have to point out how absolutely gorgeous those fuchsia ranunculous are in the attendants' bouquets!!

Take note that even the gents got a little feather-glam added to their boutonnieres.

The ceremony included one of my favorite aisle accessories -- pomanders! They were a mix of hot pink carnation and chartreuse spider mum pomanders. Nikki showed us a new trick by taking these fun flower accents and bringing them into the reception in a VERY funky way. (see below)

The ceremony pomanders were brought into the reception and hung from..... wait for it... banana stands! These were placed on the cocktail tables, and we loved this idea! (Thanks Nikki!)

The reception was held in a ultra-crisp-white tent, with birdcages hung up high and sporting candlelight, tall funky arrangements on clear trumpet vases, and a very chic lounge area. Two fab editions to the high arrangements were curly willow and bamboo stalks. Add in some uplighting, metallic-slate table linens, chartreuse/fuchsia pops of color, and this was one classy evening!

The credit of these fabulous photos goes to The Murphys, who did a superb job of highlighting the vibrant colors of the flowers.

Christina and Studio 539 Flowers recently spent the day at Crystal Lake Country Club in Mapleville, RI creating the floral ambiance for Shawna and Ryan. This wedding was such a treat!

The wedding featured an organic look that was bright and bold, and a little unconventional with a twist of awesome. The bridal flowers (shown above) were a mix and match with the bridesmaid dresses in green, blue, and purple. The solid color arrangements featured flowers like thistle, blue delphinium, hypericum berries, green hydrangea and lisianthus, to name a few. The look of mixing and matching the bouquets with the dresses really popped! The bride's bouquet combined the three colors in a garden style. Fun flowers for a very fun bride! (The bride, a belly dancer, even showed off her moves at the reception!)

The centerpieces were a mix of low and tall arrangements, featuring a very organic flow and style. The use of tree stumps throughout created a super unique look that captured the location of the wedding perfectly. The three bold colors from the bridal bouquets were carried throughout the reception.

Well... this weekends weddings (and Christina) are calling my name. Looking forward to filling you in on the Studio 539 Flowers buzz soon!

I loved working with Bethany! Working for an interior design firm, she had a lot of fun and unique ideas for all the details of her big day. From the meticulously chosen velvet ribbon on her bouquets to the hay bales that displayed her escort cards. But my favorite detail of all were her cowboy boots :)

Her wedding was at the always beautiful Tyrone Farm in Pomfret CT.

The twine wrapped boutonnieres were so country chic! Love those simple accents

This wedding was vintage country chic to the max! We tried working with as many local farms as possible at the request of the bride. It was pretty easy with the time of year and garden style Ally was looking for. I LOVED this wedding, from the venue of course ;) Tyrone Farm in Pomfret, AMAZING photography by Heather Waraksa and catering by Pepper's Fine Catering. We used delphinium, peonies, veronica, gooseneck loosestrife, sweet peas, lisianthus, hypericum berries, ladies mantle, fever few, hydrangea and many more!

Mason jars for the chair arrangements and half of the centerpieces. The other half were a cluster of small vases with a mixture of flowers in them.

Fun September Bouquet

This bridal bouquet was one of my most favorites of the fall. Allison (the bride) had a clear vision of what she wanted and the end result was fabulous!It is made up of lotus pods, scabiosa pods, fiddleheads, silver brunia, white ranunculus, veronica, hypericum berries and snow berries. The wild collar of foliage is umbrella fern. SO FUN! Her wedding was at the Roger Williams Botanical Center and photography by DB Phtography.

New York meets country chic at Tyrone Farm ! Deep purples and bold orange in clean glass. Its always important for your overall look to compliment your venue but it doesn't always have to be that country wildflower look for a farm wedding or for a mansion setting, romantic and formal. There's so much room to play with different styles. Don't get stuck on what color the rug is or how that wallpaper is too gold. If its executed right, it will look amazing!

Invitations By Paper Moss
Our first wedding of the year was so much fun! Daisies daisies everywhere and the weather was just perfect! Simple sweet touches like a fresh daisy garland hung over the pulpit just made the day that much more special. The ceremony was held at the First Unitarian Church in Providence and the reception was at the Roger Williams Casino.

Green apples for centerpieces?? They were just the right pop of color for the room. Lauri and Christopher wanted something understated yet unique for the tables.
